Refund Policy

1. Overview

At Squattest, we want you to be completely satisfied with your culinary education experience. This Refund Policy outlines the terms and conditions under which refunds may be issued for our courses. We strive to be fair and transparent while maintaining the quality and integrity of our programs.

This policy applies to all courses offered by Squattest across Canada, whether conducted in-person, online, or in hybrid format. Please read this policy carefully before enrolling in any course.

2. Cooling-Off Period

We provide a cooling-off period to allow you to reconsider your enrollment decision.

7-Day Cooling-Off Period

  • Full Refund: 100% refund if you cancel within 7 days of enrollment
  • No Questions Asked: Simple cancellation process during this period
  • Processing Time: Refunds processed within 5-7 business days
  • Condition: Course must not have started yet

Important: The cooling-off period begins from the date of your enrollment confirmation email, not the course start date.

3. Refund Schedule by Course Start Date

Refunds are calculated based on when you request cancellation relative to the course start date:

14+ Days Before Course Starts

90% Refund
  • 10% administrative fee retained
  • Covers administrative costs and reserved materials
  • Full transfer to another course session available

7-13 Days Before Course Starts

75% Refund
  • 25% administrative fee retained
  • Ingredients and materials may have been prepared
  • Transfer to another session subject to availability

3-6 Days Before Course Starts

50% Refund
  • 50% administrative fee retained
  • Significant preparation costs incurred
  • Limited transfer options available

0-2 Days Before or After Course Starts

No Refund
  • Full preparation completed
  • Ingredients purchased and space reserved
  • May transfer to future session (conditions apply)

4. Medical and Emergency Exceptions

We understand that unexpected circumstances can prevent you from attending courses. In cases of serious medical issues or family emergencies, we may offer exceptions to our standard refund policy.

Qualifying Circumstances:

  • Serious personal illness requiring medical documentation
  • Illness or death of immediate family member
  • Emergency military deployment
  • Unexpected job relocation outside the course city
  • Natural disasters or government-mandated closures

Required Documentation:

  • Medical certificate from licensed physician
  • Death certificate or hospital records
  • Official military or employment documentation
  • Government emergency declarations

Exception Benefits:

  • Full refund or credit toward future courses
  • Up to 12 months to use course credit
  • Priority booking for future sessions

5. Course Transfers

In many cases, transferring to a different course session may be preferable to requesting a refund.

Transfer Options:

  • Same Course, Different Date: Available up to 48 hours before course starts
  • Different Course, Same Value: Subject to availability and approval
  • Higher-Value Course: Pay the difference in course fees
  • Lower-Value Course: Credit applied to account for future use

Transfer Conditions:

  • One free transfer per enrollment
  • Subsequent transfers subject to $25 administrative fee
  • Must transfer within 6 months of original course date
  • Subject to space availability in desired course

6. Course Cancellations by Squattest

Occasionally, we may need to cancel courses due to circumstances beyond our control.

Reasons for Cancellation:

  • Insufficient enrollment (minimum 6 students required)
  • Instructor illness or unavailability
  • Facility issues or emergencies
  • Government restrictions or public health orders
  • Natural disasters or extreme weather

Your Options When We Cancel:

  • Full Refund: 100% refund processed within 5 business days
  • Course Credit: 110% credit toward future courses (10% bonus)
  • Priority Rebooking: First access to rescheduled sessions
  • Alternative Course: Equivalent course at same price point

Additional Compensation:

  • If cancelled with less than 48 hours notice: $50 inconvenience credit
  • Travel expenses may be reimbursed for out-of-town students (up to $200)
  • Priority booking for next available session

7. Partial Refunds for Partial Attendance

If you need to withdraw from a course after it has started, partial refunds may be available based on completed sessions.

Calculation Method:

  • Refund calculated on remaining sessions only
  • No refund for sessions already attended
  • 25% administrative fee applies to remaining balance
  • Minimum refund amount: $50 (if applicable)

Example Calculation:

Course: 8-week program ($400 total)

Withdrawal: After 3 sessions

Calculation:

  • Remaining sessions: 5 out of 8 = $250
  • Administrative fee: 25% of $250 = $62.50
  • Refund amount: $187.50

8. Non-Refundable Items

Certain fees and services are non-refundable regardless of cancellation timing:

  • Registration Fees: One-time $25 registration fee (when applicable)
  • Materials Taken Home: Recipe books, utensils, or ingredients taken by student
  • Certificates: Issued certificates and administrative processing
  • Special Equipment: Personalized or customized items ordered for student
  • Third-Party Fees: External certification or examination fees
  • Payment Processing: Credit card processing fees (typically 3%)
